Built for
The mismatch

Insurance asks for ₦48,000 in January from someone who earns ₦6,000 on a good day.

Annual premiums were designed for salaried people with a predictable January. Gig income arrives daily, unevenly, and disappears just as fast — so the product and the customer have never fit together.

The result is that the workers most exposed to road risk carry the least protection. Not because they don't want cover, and not because they can't afford it in total, but because nobody has ever asked them for it in the size they actually hold money.

Forty naira a trip is ₦48,000 a year. The same money. The only thing we changed is when we ask for it.

How it works

Four steps, and you're covered before your next trip.

01

Link how you earn

Connect your ride-hail account, delivery app or mobile money till. Traders can link a POS terminal instead.

02

A few naira per trip

₦40 on a standard trip, taken automatically as each one completes. Nothing is deducted on a day you don't work.

03

Cover goes live

Accident cover starts the same day, with no waiting period. Hospital and income benefits begin after seven days.

04

Claim from your phone

Send a photo of the police or hospital report. Approved claims are paid to your wallet, most within 48 hours.

Schedule of cover

The limits, in full, before you pay anything.

Written out plainly, including the waiting periods. If a benefit does not apply on day one, it says so here rather than in a document you receive afterwards.

Based on ₦40 per completed trip for the standard policy, excluding optional add-ons. Deductions stop automatically on days you do not work, so a slow week costs less rather than putting the policy at risk.

When something happens

The part everyone else makes difficult.

Report it from the roadside

Open the app, tap claim, photograph the police report or hospital card. No forms to collect, no office to visit.

Assessed within 24 hours

An assessor reviews the claim the same working day and tells you what is covered and what is not, in plain language.

Paid to your wallet

Approved claims settle to your mobile money or bank account, most inside 48 hours of approval.

Questions

Asked before signing up.

What happens if I stop working for a month?
Nothing is deducted, and cover pauses rather than cancels. Your policy stays open for 90 days without a single trip — start working again inside that window and cover resumes the same day, at the same terms, with no reinstatement fee. This is the main reason the product exists.
Who actually pays the claim?
Policies are underwritten by licensed insurance partners in each market, and claims are paid from their books, not ours. Shi3lda handles the pricing, the deduction and the claims process. The underwriter for your policy is named in the wording you receive before your first deduction.
Can I be refused a claim for something I didn't know about?
The exclusions are listed on this page and in the policy wording, and there are no others. The common ones are riding without a valid licence, incidents while intoxicated, and injuries arising from a condition that existed before you joined. If a claim is declined you are told which specific clause applies and can escalate it.
Does it cover my passenger or my goods?
Third-party liability covers injury or damage you cause to other people, passengers included, to ₦1,000,000. Goods in transit are not covered under the standard policy — couriers carrying high-value items should ask about the goods add-on.
What if I work across two apps?
Link both. Deductions are capped at a daily maximum regardless of how many platforms you work through, so you are never charged twice for the same day's cover.
I don't own the bike. Am I still covered?
Yes. The accident, hospital, income and disability benefits follow you, not the machine — they apply whether you own, rent or ride on a hire-purchase agreement. Only the optional motorcycle damage add-on requires that you own the bike or are responsible for it under the agreement.
